On January 1, 2018, a new Suffolk County law will go into effect, charging a five-cent fee for plastic and paper carryout bags, at a variety of retail stores. Those in support of the fee believe it will protect the environment. Those against view it as a tax that will hurt local businesses. Would you support Nassau County imposing a five-cent fee on plastic and paper carryout bags?

As far as you owning a food establishments take a tour of the kitchens and the sgts who run them.. You would die... Time to wake this place up.. To much corruption in the kitchens and jail.. As a 20 year republicain I would consider you ad help you get elected if you promises to get this guy out..

Truly Agree

It is unfathomable to me to see how and why a cook was appointed to Sheriff of Nassau County. The job of Sheriff is traditionally the top law enforcement executive in the land, and the Sheriff should and must have a vast experience of the criminal justice system. A spectrum which includes criminal and civil enforcement, jail, prisoner security, anti-crime, and the law. Not to mention the ability to recruit, hire, train, retain or fire staff, in addition to balancing a multimillion dollar budget. Under the watch of the current administration the rumor of corruption, violence, and the apparent mismanagement of the entire Sheriff's department have cost the County tons of money in lawsuits and payouts. Being a criminal justice professional myself, I understand the importance of positive moral and the secure feeling of having leaders that are knowledgeable and supportive of their officers/staff. It is truly unfortunate that the Mangano administration would risk the lives of our citizens and deputies by placing a cook behind the wheel. @Wearedone, I totally agree with you and would like to communicate with you more about this issue. It's a serious one.

Someone needs to be convicted before being called a crook.
